Truck Driver Job Description - Comments

A truck driver job description consists of transporting goods to various destinations. Products transferred can range from raw materials to retail goods, be as large as vehicles or as small as pharmaceuticals. Some trucks are specialized and require special training to operate. A commercial driver's license and a good driving record are basic requirements in a truck driver job description, but further education may be needed for certain truck driving jobs, depending on the cargo. Willingness to endure the long haul is also part of a truck driver job description since most waking hours are spent on the road. This includes dealing with road and weather conditions that are less than favorable.

According to a recent PayScale Truck Driver Survey, many truck drivers were initially employed in Light Delivery Services. Five years after holding a heavy truck driver job, many moved on to become Fleet Dispatchers.
