Sales Leadership: Sales Managers understand and apply a value-based sales methodology and are able to train account executives to sell consultatively, build account strategies, identifying and developing leads, set appointments, conduct account research, and lead sales calls, and are able to give constructive and consistent, direct and explicit feedback to individual account executives.
Business & Industry Knowledge: Sales Managers gather, analyze, and apply business and industry knowledge, through knowing the compensation solution industry and customers' industries, understanding human capital, and using economic and financial data to understand a client's business AND are able to relate this information to their direct reports.

Responsibilities:
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of Account Executives to sell PayScale's Compensation Data solutions to HR Professionals, Compensation Professionals and Executive Level (Director, V-Level & C-Level) decision makers. The Sales Manager owns the business outcome for their territory and the Account Executives that report to them. The Sales Manager reports to the VP of Marketing, Sales & Business Development.
- Ongoing mentoring and development of sales team which includes recruiting, hiring and training new Reps
- Conducting weekly 1:1 meetings with account executives, provide coaching and direct, explicit feedback aimed at developing account executive skills
- Coach direct reports regarding account strategies to drive closure
- Reporting on sales activity and forecast to senior management; including interfacing with Sales Operations
- Consistently monitoring the sales activity of the team, and tracking the results
- Participate in and lead sales training and motivation including creation of training materials to assist individual reps in achieving their quota goals
- Interface with Account Executives and Lead Generation professionals to leads generated are high quality and are being worked in a manner consistent with meeting PayScale's booking objectives
Required Skills/Experience:
- 3+ years of software sales experience; preferably proven record of sales success in a similar SaaS environment
- Successful track record in a high volume transaction sales environment
- Working knowledge of the Compensation Market
- Excellent presentation and listening skills
- Working knowledge of CRM systems including SalesForce.com
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Must be able to thrive in a very fast paced environmentAbility to recruit, hire and train new sales representatives
- Related Bachelors degree
- Preference given to previous leadership experience OR internal candidates with prior history of consistent success at hitting quota AND demonstrated desire for new responsibilities
This position has a base salary and bookings based commission structure. This position will be eligible for a promotion to Senior Sales Manager after 6-12 months and Director of Sales After 12-24 months of proven success in achieving quota and proven ability to lead in a sales environement.

The Sales Account Executive is responsible for the selling of PayScale's Compensation Data Products to HR Professionals. The Sales Account Executive will respond and initiate outbound calls and respond to in-bound leads to companies that are in need of salary data. This position has a base salary, bonuses and commissions. The company provides product, industry and sales training.
Responsibilities
- Exceed monthly sales quota
- Generate new business opportunities by cold-calling target companies and following up on inbound leads
- Execute consultative, needs-based sales process
- Make web-based presentations and demonstrations to prospects
- Track all relevant sales activity using the company's sales force automation system (including calls, prospect pipeline, account notes, etc).
- Effectively educate prospects regarding the company's products and efficiently process customer transactions and account setup
- Exceed daily activity metrics
Requirements
- Demonstrated history of success - proven track record of exceeding quotas
- Proven 'hunter' (new business) selling skills
- Minimum of 3-4 years experience in selling software or data services
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and presentation skills
- Understanding and effective execution of the sales process
- Effective at cold calling Human Resources professionals to develop sales opportunities
- Able to work independently and comfortable spending the majority of the workday on the phone
- MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.
- Bachelors degree required
Earning Potential
- Base $40k-50k
- Commissions
