Joe Giordano - Chairman

Joe Giordano founded PayScale in 2000, with twenty years of experience in designing technology and managing its development. Prior to establishing PayScale, Mr. Giordano served as Director of Program Management at drugstore.com where he led website development and helped to rapidly grow the company from inception into the leading online drugstore. Earlier in his career, he served as Director of Product Development at InfoGear Technology Corporation (acquired by Cisco) where he led project design and development for the iPhone Internet appliance, which won various industry awards such as Internet World's Best of Show and was awarded a U.S. Patent for user interface design. A Microsoft veteran, Mr. Giordano also led the design and the development of initial versions of the award-winning Microsoft Works product during the 1990s, and he later became the program management lead for the original version of The Microsoft Network (MSN), Microsoft's first online endeavor. He holds various user interface and technology design patents, served on the board of directors of iSyndicate, Inc. (now YellowBrix), and serves on the board of advisors of several other Internet companies. Mr. Giordano has a graduate degree in Music Composition from Whitman College.

Michael Metzger
Mike Metzger joined PayScale in 2004 as the Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, he was with MAK Partners where he focused on the evaluation of early stage companies. In 2000, Mr. Metzger joined Performant as Chief Executive Officer and President managing all aspects of building and running the company, which was sold to Mercury Interactive. Prior to his work at Performant, Mr. Metzger served as Vice President Product and Services for WRQ where he co-authored the strategic plan and vision for the company. Mike also spent time at RealNetworks where he directed software product marketing efforts, started up the Real Broadcast Network, managed the product marketing for successful launches of RealAudio 3.0 and 4.0, and led the creation and development of an ASP stream hosting business for RealNetworks, which led to over $3M in revenue in the first full year. Earlier in his career, he held various positions at Microsoft, including International Product Manager, Lead Product Manager for MS Works and Group Manager Consumer Marketing. Mr. Metzger holds an MBA in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University.

Denny Weston
Fluke Venture Partners
Denny Weston joined PayScale's Board of Directors in October 2004 after 20 years in the venture capital industry and involvement with 44 portfolio companies. He has been part of the FVP team since its inception in 1982, and was solely responsible for FVP's venture capital activities until 1997. Often lauded as an early leader in the Pacific Northwest venture capital industry, Mr. Weston founded Evergreen Venture Capital Association, for which he now serves as a member of the Board of Directors. He received his BA in business administration, from Central Washington University and his MBA, with honors, from the University of Washington.

Matt McIlwain
Madrona Venture Group
Matt McIlwain has been a member of the PayScale Board of Directors since October 2004. At Madrona, he focuses on a broad range of software-driven companies and has previously sat on the board for many successfully acquired companies in the software arena. Mr. McIlwain is a Technology Advisor to the Discovery Institute and advisory board member for Families Northwest. He also teaches an annual course on venture capital in the University of Washington Executive MBA Program. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College, holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

Patricia Nakache
Trinity Ventures
Patricia Nakache joined PayScale's Board of Directors in 2005. Ms. Nakache, a Partner, has been a part of the Trinity Ventures team since 1999. Prior to joining Trinity, she was with McKinsey & Company helping enterprises in technology, financial services and retailing address their strategic and operational issues. Ms. Nakache also contributed to FORTUNE magazine and other publications on management best practices in technology companies. Board involvement include Core2, Jobster, and LoopNet. She received her B.A from Harvard University and her M.B.A. from Stanford University.

Andy Dale
Buerk Dale Victor
Andy Dale joined PayScale's Board of Directors in October 2004, currently serving as a board observer. For more than 15 years, Mr. Dale has been involved with building and growing companies as an investment banker, venture capitalist, and entrepreneur. Since 2000, he has served as Managing Partner and Managing Director at BDV where he is responsible for overseeing all firm operations. Mr. Dale holds an BA from Harvard University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
