The Path to Your Dream Job
By Bridget Quigg
What does having a dream job feel like? I envision a young man in a tie and slacks skipping down a sidewalk, unaware of the sprinklers spraying him because he is so happy to be going to work. Can a job be that dreamy? It's hard to say. But, some folks at the University of Washington School of Continuing Education decided to try to get you a little closer to career bliss with their "The Path to Your Dream Job" infographic.
With advice on facing fears, creating a plan and staying the course, this graphic seems useful for visual learners. You can look at all of the steps and see where you are at. Compared to reading a book, a one-page view of the entire journey to career success helps you quickly assess how far you have to go.
I was especially impressed by the emphasis on choosing what you enjoy over doing what you are good at. Simply doing a task well does not make it a satisfying line of work for you. That's my two cents as a former premed turned writer.
Below are some samples from the graphic. Give them a look and check out the whole, 9-step graphic.
