Fan Face-Off: Careers in New England vs. New York

When Giants and Patriots players finish their battle on Feb.5, the winners will enjoy some serious pay benefits. Think millions. Will their fans be as handsomely rewarded? No, but PayScale has concluded that one teams' suporters enjoy a similar and very valuable advantage: a better shot at a satisfying, stable, well-paid career in their hometown.

When you think of what factors influence your happiness at work, what comes to mind? Likely it's pay, job opportunities, vacation days and more. We gathered a few of them together and compared New England (largely Boston)'s results to New York. It turns out that, if you're keeping a career score, New England's a clear winner.

"Boston hosts more growing industries than New York, like scienctifc research, biotech and information technology. While New York is showing some recovery from the recession, it isn't as swift at Boston's," says lead analyst at PayScale, Katie Bardaro.
