Over 70 percent of employees cite noise as the primary environmental factor that influences their output at work, but that doesn't mean your office should be like a library. Instead of aiming for complete silence, business owners should instead consider noise reduction strategies like echo-reducing ceilings, carpeted floors and sound-absorbing furniture or raw materials. Natural light and fresh outdoor air similarly helps employees avoid fatigue, eyestrain and respiratory problems.
Color also has a role in worker happiness. Cool colors like blue, green and purple are best for areas that require intense focus -- conference rooms or the accounting wing, for example -- while warm colors like yellow, orange and red enable creativity. The wrong colors can cause headaches, eyestrain and fatigue.
