Some 70 percent of U.S. workers are either "not engaged" or "actively disengaged" at their jobs, according to the latest research in this infographic. Are dissatisfied employees having a career midlife crisis?
It's possible. Although half of respondents reported that they were satisfied in their current jobs, nearly three-fourths of them indicated that they had no plans to switch jobs. The top reasons employees do change careers include restructuring or downsizing, new opportunities, ineffective leadership, and poor relationships with managers and other superiors.
The infographic recommends that those who are in a career midlife crisis embrace it. After all, projections indicate that 14.6 million jobs will be created by 2018. Between 2010 and 2020, health care jobs and computer jobs will grow by 3 million and 600,000, respectively. The social sector should also see growth of nearly 7 million jobs.
