When you sit down at your desk to work, do you think your productivity level rises? What you think might not be the reality. Several common distractions can lead you off track.
Do you have toys decorating your desk? If so, they could be distracting you with their cuteness. If you want to be at your absolute most productive, stow away the toys in a desk drawer and only take them out when you have the time to play around with them. Another visual distraction is piles of paper. They're a constant reminder of everything you still need to get done. To ease your mind, file them away in a cabinet and keep a simple, single-sheet to-do list handy instead.
Clock distractions are the worst. They're a constant reminder that time is ticking away. If you have an appointment or schedule to keep, set an alarm and keep the desk clock out of sight. Another distraction is sitting constantly, as your mind gets tired and dormant. Taking a short walk or 10-minute break can actually assist you in being more productive.
