10-Year-Old Girl Surprises Michelle Obama With Her Dad's Resume

The next time you're feeling a little shy at a networking event, take inspiration from 10-year-old Charlotte Bell. At White House's annual "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day," Bell took advantage of the opportunity and slipped her Dad's CV to the first lady.

When Mrs. Obama called on Bell during the Q-and-A portion, ABC News reports that Bell passed on the resume instead of asking a question.

"My dad's been out of a job for three years and I wanted to give you his resume," she said.

"Oh my goodness," said Mrs. Obama, hugging Bell.

"Well, it's a little private, but she's doing something for her dad, right?" she said to the audience. ABC News notes that the first lady took the resume with her when she left the event.

Bell's father is not alone in his plight. As of last week, Think Progress reports that 3.7 million Americans were unemployed for 27 weeks or more. That number has declined by 837,000 this year. The long-term unemployed make up about 36 percent of unemployed workers.

For Americans who cross the Rubicon into long-term unemployment, prospects are grim. According to a paper from the Brookings Institution, during the years 2008 and 2011, only 11 percent of workers unemployed for 27 weeks or longer returned to full-time unemployment. Twenty-four percent found part-time work; 35 percent stopped looking altogether.

@zi7270 Welcome to the new economy. US multinationals can sell trash all over the world, stealing jobs from other countries in retail and other sectors, thanks to WTO, IMF and World Bank policies , so stop crying about H1Bs.

And while crying about H1B "trash" from India, it might interest you to know that quite a few of them have actually gone on to start companies in the US, creating jobs for USCs, but I guess all red necks are short sighted.

Need just 2 jobs; one for him and another for my wife who is an MBA and an IT professional, jobless for 24 months..

But I bet there will be 65000 more H-1 trash from India to steal IT jobs from USCs
