Priorities and Boundaries
There are only so many hours in a day. Busy people have have long lists of things they need or want to do, and it is normal to feel overwhelmed. One secret to success is being realistic about your goals. You can’t prepare Thanksgiving dinner after spending the day coaching soccer. You need time.
Once you start to think in realistic terms, you are better able to make choices about how you want to spend your time. In the tongue-in-cheek example above, you may decide to hire a substitue soccer coach so you can focus on the big dinner.
Part of being realistic is being able to say no when you absolutely are not able to do something. Successful people are less likely to fail because they avoid taking on too much.
Successful people are accountable. They keep track of their time and are honest about their goals and how well they are meeting those goals.
If you make a mistake or fail to get something done, don’t beat yourself up. Just look at how and why you failed. Not succeeding is an opportunity to learn from your mistakes and change your behavior to do better next time. It takes humility, but will help you succeed in the end.
Take Care of Yourelf
