The three public colleges on our list each provide students with a healthy return on investment for their tuition dollars.

When looking for the best college return on investment Idaho has to offer, The University of Idaho in Moscow wins top honors in the Gem State with a 20-year net ROI of $375,900 and an annualized ROI of 9.4 percent. The University of Idaho mascot may be the Vandal, but when we look at the financial payback of a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho, it's the students who really make out like bandits. Famous UI alumni include EE "Doc" Smith, author of the Skylark and Lensman series, and many professional football players.

The second highest college ROI Idaho students can get comes from Idaho State University in Pocatello. This small town school is home to more than 15,000 students. Those students who graduate with a bachelor's degree from ISU tend to see an annualized ROI of 9.2 percent, adding up to a 20-year net ROI of $364,700. The Bengals have a strong football program, and one of their alumni, Marvin Lewis, went on to become the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. ISU is also the alma mater of Home Depot CEO Bruce Nelson.

Finally, even the lowest college ROI in Idaho isn't too bad. Boise State has a 20-year net ROI of $285,800 for in-state students. This may be lower than the ROI even for out-of-state students at Idaho's other two colleges, but it's still in the upper half of our national rankings, making it a good value with reasonably priced tuition for in-state students.
