2012: The strong finish of 2011 continued into Q1 2012 for workers in Toronto. Wages grew 0.3 percent over the previous quarter and were 0.8 percent higher than a year ago.
2007-2011: Toronto has been one of the least dramatic metros for wage trends tracked in The PayScale Index for Canada. Earnings for residents of Toronto grew slowly and steadily throughout 2007 and 2008. They then suffered a relatively minor drop in 2009 of about 2 percent. From that low point, they climbed back to just below their 2008 peak by the end of 2010, then grew again in late 2011 to finish the year up 0.7 percent year-over-year.
