Atlanta Metro Area Pay Trends

Updated April 5, 2012
2012: Following steady growth in 2011, wages plateaued in Atlanta at the start of 2012. However, wages are still more than 1 percent higher than the previous year.

2007-2011: After rising on par with national trends in 2007, wage gains in Atlanta slowed compared to the rest of the country during 2008, showing early signs of the coming recession. Atlanta ended the year with little wage growth.

After that, Atlanta employees’ earnings suffered a sharp drop in 2009, plummeting 2 percent from their peak. The market price for Atlanta workers changed very little in 2010 but small, steady growth in 2011 pushed wages for workers in Atlanta up an entire percent by Q4.
