Tampa Metro Area Pay Trends
Updated April 5, 2012
2012: Q1 2012 brought more than sunshine to Tampa residents. It brought good wage growth with earnings up 0.8 percent over the previous quarter. This jump in wages has Tampa starting out the year on a high note.
2007-2011: In this Gulf Coast City, wages started out strong in 2007, outperforming national averages through Q4 2007.
After that, Tampa wage growth slowed during 2008. An upward bump in Q4 2008 was quickly given back in Q1 2009. After an initial large drop in average pay in Q2 of that year, earnings in Tampa stayed fairly flat through 2010. Unfortunately, a drop in earnings in Q4 2011 set wages for Tampa workers back nearly 1 percent year-over-year, nearly 3 percent behind their 2008 peak.
