Wholesale Trade Industry Pay Trends

Updated April 5, 2012
2012: In Q1 2012, wages in the wholesale trade industry continued the steady upward movement they started in Q2 2011. Wages in the first quarter of 2012 grew 0.7 percent over the previous quarter and achieved year-over-year growth of 1.5 percent.

2007-2011: Wages in this industry tracked national trends through 2007 and 2008, hitting their peak at the end of 2008. Earnings then declined throughout 2009, dropping to their lowest point in Q1 2010, nearly 2.5 percent below their peak more than a year earlier, about 1 percent below the national average. Wages for wholesale workers then trended upward slowly during the rest of 2010 and 2011, ending 2011 nearly a full percent ahead of a year earlier.
