Many times, research and development teams work to improve an existing product or service. They identify areas for improvement and how any changes might be conducted. Research and development managers oversee this process and suggest recommendations to the organization's leaders.

To become a research and development manager, a master’s or doctorate degree is required, usually in engineering, biochemistry, physics, or a related field.
