Negotiating Higher Pay
The hard part for me was finding the right words to describe what I wanted. I didn't want to come off as disgruntled. I also wasn't sure when to ask and I kept putting it off. I waited until the company's review cycle. I repeated (in my head) the word "fair", over and over. I tried to think about what problems my manager was dealing with, and how I was helping to solve them. I said: "I know its been hard to fill the other position. Since i'm working out and getting the job done, i'd like to be compensated fairly." I got a 7% raise and $500 bonus! And, my boss eventually also hired another assistant to help me with my workload.
