What is it like working as an Account Manager?
Account Manager in Toronto:
"It's all on you."
Pros: Lot's of responsibility; relationships with customers are great; tangible results can be seen through the course of an implementation - it's nice to share in your customer's success. In a massive organization like SAP, there is a lot of smart people and access to the global product owners/developers.
Cons: High stress; managing in a matrix organization is complex and difficult to control. It can be hard to find the right people. The pressure to execute multi-million deals in a calendar year is high.

Account Manager in London:
"ups and downs"
Pros: I enjoy engaging with and helping clients, there are real instances of our service delivering value every day.
Cons: We offer a 'nice to have' service that is not business critical, so it is easy to cut the cost from a budget under scrutiny. This losing of clients negatively impacts my income, even though many times it is out of my control.
