Electrical Engineer Advice

What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?

Electrical Engineer in Edmonton:
"Work hard play hard."
Work hard. Everyone starts somewhere, make sure to keep up with the market. Always look to advance your career. Don't be afraid to take chances. No regrets.

Electrical Engineer in Calgary:
"Sweat the Small Stuff."
Don't make a big deal about the little things, but grind them out so that others (particularly your boss) doesn't have to worry about it. By "grind it out", I mean automate where possible. Create efficiencies so that your boss can focus on higher level activities. Once they see that you have owned your space they will want that same level of grit on higher level activities. PEOPLE APPRECIATE THOSE WHO SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF FOR THEM! There is little risk, if you screw up then it's just the small stuff. But, if you seriously own it then you have shown value.

Electrical Engineer in Toronto:
"The Job Requirements And Description In More Detail."
Do what you love. Everything will workout in the end.

Electrical Engineer in Burlington:
Pay attention to those with experience. Not just engineers, but maintenance staff and trades.
