Don't make a big deal about the little things, but grind them out so that others (particularly your boss) doesn't have to worry about it. By "grind it out", I mean automate where possible. Create efficiencies so that your boss can focus on higher level activities. Once they see that you have owned your space they will want that same level of grit on higher level activities.
PEOPLE APPRECIATE THOSE WHO SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF FOR THEM! There is little risk, if you screw up then it's just the small stuff. But, if you seriously own it then you have shown value.
