Middle School Teacher Salary

Middle school teachers generally teach grades 6 through 8. Teachers who instruct middle school must be equipped with a great deal of patience. Communication, trust, and the ability to motive and understand children are key components to being a good middle school teacher, particularly because these are very formative years for children. The education they receive during this time shapes their futures and prepares them for adulthood. Middle school teachers are required to obtain a bachelor's degree and complete teacher education/certification programs that are specific to each state. They can teach such subjects as science, math, English, social studies, art, music and more. Middle school teachers prepare report cards to show the progress of each student, and they also assist those students who have difficulty with certain subjects. On occasion, they will have to meet with parents and members of the staff to discuss any problems a student may be having personally or academically. They may also supervise extracurricular activities and field trips. Most middle school teachers work at public or private schools and generally work Monday through Friday with the summers off (unless they teach summer school or work for a year-round school). On occasion, they may need to stay at work in the evening or come in on the weekends.
