Purchaser Reviews

Q: What is it like working as a Purchaser?

Purchaser in Smithers:
"Overall experience, the perks and the lows."
Pros: I like the purchasing experience. I enjoy the negotiations, the challenge of purchasing at the right time for the best prices. We deal with hundreds of suppliers which is a challenge, but I enjoy it. I also get to travel to buying shows which has brought me to many places I probably would have never gone before.
Cons: It can be quite stressful at times, trying to balance inventory levels and dealing with the staff, making sure everyone is happy. I spend a lot more than 40 hours a week most of the time. I also do customer service which really cuts into the time I need for purchasing.

Purchaser in Fort St. John:
"Purchasing Parts For Mechanics All Day Long."
Pros: The social aspect of getting to chat up people all day long.
Cons: Its fast paced and demanding, not much room for error.
