What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?

Must be hard working and fast on your feet all day, sometimes all night.

I wish I had of known that I would be giving up my entire life to become a chef. I have realized over the past couple of years that I should have spent more time focusing on my life instead of my career. Make sure if you have friends at this point that you make an effort to see them any chance you get, no matter how tired you are. Your friends will only accept your excuses for so long before they stop calling you.
