Job Description for Recruitment Consultant, Information Technology (IT)

Recruitment consultants in information technology (IT) are responsible for finding, evaluating, and hiring information technology professionals on behalf of their company. They are in charge of providing expert advice in recruiting candidates who fit the standards for a proposed position. They must have strong interpersonal skills to assess applicants' qualities, skills, and on-the-job performance, and strong problem-solving skills to identify possible recruitment issues and modify their decisions.

One of their main duties involves conducting interviews to identify key skills needed for jobs, and they also help conduct testing sessions to measure technology skills. They generally have strong backgrounds in information technology; one of their main tools is a personal computer to keep candidate records organized and write reports based on observations.

Recruitment consultants in information technology (IT) participate in business meetings to suggest ideas and make recommendations regarding the recruitment process to improve it and use fewer company resources. Among their other responsibilities are screening resumes and applications to check proper education and experience, and confirming certifications to make sure they match the needs of clients. They must develop strong business relationships with both their clients and candidates to increase brand recognition and work well with other consultants and IT professionals in a team environment to reach all company goals.

However, they must also be able to work efficiently by themselves with minimal supervision. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human Resources, Psychology or a related field is often necessary, and industry certifications and previous work experience in a consulting or recruiting capacity are also beneficial.
