The senior software architect is largely responsible for the development of new programs and software for technologically based organizations. This position includes working with a team of individuals to identify the goals of the software, develop a system for implementation, and overseeing the development process. This includes reviewing code that subordinates have written to ensure it is works correctly and researching the most up-to-date techniques in software design. In addition, the senior software architect spends a great deal of time communicating progress on software development to subordinates, clients, project managers, and business analysts; they must be able to discuss implementation in terms and conditions that the individual less familiar with software development can understand.
A senior software architect must have extensive computer science experience and should hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in the field. Additionally, the architect must have in-depth experience and knowledge of various computer codes, including Java, C++, .NET, and C#. Particular companies may ask for proficiency or mastery in coding schemes specific to mobile technology, such as HTML5, or web technology, such as JavaScript.
