Job Description for Director of Revenue Management

Directors of revenue management generally oversee sales and revenue to optimize efficiency and profits. The responsibilities for directors of revenue management vary greatly from organization to organization, partly due to the fact that company size has a large impact on responsibilities and demand. General duties may include planning budgets, developing strategies for growth, and mentoring employees on the sales force. Directors of revenue management are often required to analyze sales and revenue data, as well as make presentations to managers within their organization. They may need to coordinate strategies with other department as well. This is generally a full time position that takes place in an office setting, although travel may be needed depending on the requirements of the company and this position.

A bachelor’s degree in business, information management, or a related field is generally the minimum educational requirement for this position. Certain positions may also require a master's degree in a related field. Experience requirements depend on the employer and position, with some requiring experience in a related position and others requiring general experience with company or its specific field. Many positions require knowledge of the field the company works in, so that the director may work directly with clients and fully understand the needs of the company. Organizational and interpersonal skills are needed for this position, as well as the ability to think creatively and meet deadlines.
Director of Revenue Management Tasks
  • Oversee regulatory and scheduling aspects of collections, credit cards and claims management.
  • Identify strategies to increase customer base and revenues.
  • Communicate revenue cycle issues and strategies throughout the organization.
  • Analyze sales data and market share to forecast and make recommendations.
  • Assist in setting monthly and annual financial goals.
