Search engine optimization (SEO) specialists are experts whose roles are to increase the visibility of a website. Their task is to develop web contents and conduct online campaigns that are in line with a client's strategies. They are also responsible for content optimization and for analysis of the results of these SEO campaigns. SEO specialists usually works for large organization or business entities with substantial investment and presence on the Internet. They are usually hired by (and report to) an SEO manager or an IT (information technology) manager. They typically collaborate with the development and QA teams as well as the marketing department in order to ensure that SEO best practices, guidelines and targets are met. SEO specialists work in company offices together with the other members of the SEO team as well as the rest of the technology personnel. The bulk of their work days may consist of meetings, telephone conferences and desk work, which may involve coding, generating and analyzing reports, and writing documentations. SEO specialists generally maintain normal work hours but as with any job in the technology industry. To work as an SEO specialist requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science and significant work experience in search engine optimization. Completion of a certificate course in SEO will be very helpful for those with no work background in SEO.
