Job Description for Marketing Coordinator

Marketing is all about communication, so working as a marketing coordinator is all about making good communication happen. A marketing coordinator must be well versed in workload delegation, they must be ready to do research on products and events that they are advertising for, and they need to know the demographic that the product or event is targeting and how to appeal to that demographic.
Breaking into the marketing coordinator job market takes more than being organized and having good people skills. Marketing coordinators should have a bachelor's degree in marketing, management, or business administration. Even with higher education, marketing coordinators need to be articulate, demonstrate strong leadership abilities, and be good at gathering information because who they work with will change on a constant basis.
A major goal for marketing coordinators is to support their marketing department's everyday operations. They do this by creating media campaigns, developing projects to work towards marketing goals, and by promoting events and products. To accomplish these tasks, marketing coordinators must create new material for proposals and correspondence so that their ideas can be successfully conveyed. Novel presentation material keeps projects interesting for targeted audiences. Marketing coordinators must also be ready to make reports on their activities and projects.
Working with management rather than against management is important. While marketing coordinators push to help their marketing department, to get any ideas through, they have to run them past management first. To make sure that management is clear on what is going on, marketing coordinators should do extensive research to compile accurate and up-to-date data for reports so that management can make informed decisions and help with the creative process.
