Job Description for PHP Developer

Working as a PHP developer requires the ability to work with many web-based tools and products to help create and execute websites, widgets, and applications requested by clients. PHP developers must be familiar with PHP itself (hypertext preprocessor), MySQL, AJAX, and even JavaScript. A PHP programmer should also know how to implement HTML and CSS in applications and websites being developed primarily in PHP. Planning customized applications and websites that allow for consumer input, submissions, and even adding content to the site is another requirement for PHP developers. The ability to work well with a tech team and to understand a client's needs are required to work full-time as a PHP developer. Working as a PHP programmer can be done from home freelancing in addition to working in an office environment, depending on availability of positions and your own preferences.
