Job Description for Web Content Editor

Web content editors use their web publishing and writing skills to further their company's reputation and goals. They must be able to navigate and use the web publishing tools used by the company, which can range from a blog to a Wikipedia page to a full website. Additionally, they must be able to create original content that meets company standards for quality, consistency, and formatting. The web content editor is often expected to maintain and present data to supervisors and staff related to the number of users, page views, and other metrics. Administration and maintenance of the company's social media presence may also be required of the web content editor, and familiarity with different social media platforms may be expected for this position. This position takes place mainly in an office during regular business editors. Generally, the web content editor works with other writers in their company, as well as (potentially) freelance writers.

A bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a similar fields is generally required, as well as demonstrated experience, usually in the form of a portfolio. The ability to perform copy-editing tasks and use basic computer software is expected in this position. A candidate applying for this position should also be able to perform equally well in a team setting and independently. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are a must.
