Job Description for 3d Artist

If you love to draw but also love to use computers, becoming a 3D artist may be perfect for you. As technologies and software continue to evolve so has the artistic field. Fields such as animated films, video games, architecture and even medicine require the use of 3D artists. The field is expected to grow up to sixteen percent in the coming years.
A 3D artist will create and sculpt digital models, including video editing, 3D modeling, and animation. They use software, lighting, and rendering to create textures and visual effects. Finally they collaborate with designers and developers to create simulations and final projects.
Formal education is not required to become a 3D artist however most companies are requiring certification with either a two year associate's degree or four year bachelor's degree with experience in computer design, animation, and technical drawing. There is also the option of owning a private business and being self-employed. Networking and skills in business would also be needed for these people. Familiarity with a variety of animation software and having a portfolio of models or photographic work will help further a 3D artist's career. Social skills to network with designers and developers are also needed to become a successful 3D artist.
With new technologies and the convenience of having the option to work at home and only requiring a computer, 3D artist is becoming a rapidly growing field.
