Pizza Delivery Drivers are individuals who are highly motivated and able to work unsupervised for long periods of time. A Pizza Delivery Driver's daily activities include delivering pizzas and other ordered items to customers. Delivery drivers are responsible for taking and processing orders made over the phone and online via the restaurant's website. In periods of downtime, Delivery Drivers will be responsible for helping out in-store staff members.
Pizza Delivery Drivers primarily spend most of their time delivering pizzas. The ultimate duty of a Delivery Driver is to safely transport the purchased product to the customer. If the restaurant services customers in the city, Pizza Delivery Drivers can deliver their orders on a bicycle, weather permitting. If the restaurant is located in the suburbs or a rural area, it is likely that the deliveries will be made using the driver's car. Generally, Pizza Delivery Drivers must be insured and provide immediate proof of insurance and licensing upon hire.
Pizza Delivery Drivers must be safe and responsible individuals who are capable of representing their company at all times. This includes time spent in transit from the customer's address to the restaurant. Drivers must be capable of tracking travel expenses (i.e., mileage or gas consumption). Most deliveries will take place in the evening (dinner, rush hour, late-night snacking, etc.). Drivers must be comfortable with driving at night in all weather conditions, especially snowy, windy, rainy and foggy evenings.
As Pizza Delivery Drivers provide door-to-door service for the customers, they must present a perfect representation of company policies. They must be well-groomed and tidy at all times. Their automobiles must also be well cared for. Pizza Delivery Drivers must have excellent communication and customer service skills and should be able to perform small computations to ensure that the customer is being charged correctly.
