Job Description for Recruitment Consultant

Recruitment consultants work with companies to attract talented workers to fill open employment positions. They collaborate with management to analyze where new employees are needed and work to develop a recruitment strategy. After this, they create search and sourcing strategies to find their pool of potential candidates. The recruitment consultant narrows the pool by prescreening the candidates and then recommends qualified candidates to the company's hiring team. Recruitment consultants keep open communication lines with management during this process in order to ensure that the company's personnel needs are met. Some recruitment consultants may hold dedicated positions in a company's human resources department, while others may be hired by several different companies for temporary positions. Some recruitment positions also work at colleges, handling the recruitment of potential new students.
Most positions require interested candidates to hold a bachelor's degree, but some companies will be more lenient if they come across a candidate with an especially strong background in recruiting. Depending on the position, anywhere from three to eight or more years of recruitment consulting or management is preferred. International companies may also favor candidates who speak multiple languages. Successful recruitment consultants are fast-paced workers who are more than capable of handling the urgent nature of company recruiting.
In this line of work, it is essential to be a strong communicator. The recruitment counselor needs to be able to recognize exactly what the company's needs are at that moment, and then he or she must figure out which candidates in the talent pool fulfill those needs. It's a very people-oriented job that requires a great deal of teamwork and collaboration. Additionally, some consultants must be technologically literate enough to utilize various e-recruiting tools and databases.
