Roofer Advice

What do you wish you knew about your job when you first started out?
Roofer in St Austell:
Go to college and get paper qualifications. Take part in roofing contests to pit your skills against others.
What is it like working as a Roofer?
Roofer in Reading:
"Being a roofer "
Pros: Being outdoors ( not so much in winter ) I get to use my experience to help repair peoples homes and to learn new skills as there are so many different ways of roofing these days, especially when you have to resore a really old house which can be anything up to 600 years old.
Cons: Working in Winter, as the roof becomes wet and slippery when its so cold, so it becomes dangerous. There is also the problem of shoes, as you need a shoe that 'gives' like a trainer shoe as your feet tend to bend a lot, and the safety shoes available are not good enough.
