Most of the time a strategic marketing planning manager works on ensuring that the business development practice(s) of the company are aligned with its strategic efforts. Strategic planning managers should possess over five years of experience, a bachelor's degree (preferably in engineering, finance or business) and strong knowledge of the industry. Professionals working as strategic planning managers should be reachable via mobile phones and be present in the office on a 9 to 5 schedule. Daily computer and smartphone usage is required. Some travel may be required depending on the company.
Skills that are highly desired for strategic planning managers are the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office, hands-on implementation experience, and more. Since this position reports to the director of marketing and involves customer interaction, good presentation skills and a professional image are required.
