Fair Pay
Working more and being paid less.
I have been working at Homedepot in Lancaster, SC since the day it first opened. I have been working there longer than any new associate in that store. I worked in what is called special order services. I sell carpet and all other flooring needs. I was the deptartment manager for 2.50 yrs, I've always been the top seller in my department ever quarter, every year. I've always had the most customer surveys, with the highest marks for the best customer comments, but yet I am under paid for my service.

Don't count on bonuses or commisions, make sure your base salary enough to meet your financial needs. You will only get minimal raises.
Production vs. Longevity
I work in a smaller office and the goal is to bring in sales dollars. I have been the top producer continuously for the past three years, however, because three individuals were fortunate enough to get hired by my boss prior to me they earn a higher wage. Our year end bonus is paid as a team as well so they make the same bonus as me whereas i have brought in more sales that two of them combined. I have tried to negotiate a fair salary for myself with figures to back it up but without success. These three ladies still earn between 5,000-8,0000 more per year. It hardly seems fair to me and I have since had a bad attitude. My solution is to seek other employment where I can be valued based on production as this is my strength.
They think they're paying me too much because i'm a good sales person and my commissions are high!
I've been working for a company for 6 years now and am the top producer in activity sales. Because i have made a decent amount my boss has decided that he's paying me too much. I'm actually bein punished for my productivity. He just yesterday dropped my commission percentage dramatically. That's the thanks that i get for being a productive employee who cares about the company and my job. Not only have i been cut but i haven't had a raise in 5 of the 6 years that i've been with the company. Again, the owner thinks that i make enough because of my high sales and commissions. Go figure.
