Make a Change
Pharmacy Technician - (City withheld for privacy), Ohio, United States
I now finally realize that being a certified pharmacy technician is a joke. It took me 8 years and $8,000 to realize it, but now I do. We are treated like crap by pharmacists, look down at by nurses and physicians (which would be semi worth it if our pay wasn't such crap), our job is demanding and you need to be sharp and smart, but we get paid crap, no matter how many years of experience you have. But as soon as something is wrong, they are quick to blame the pharmacy technician. I've decided...enough is enough and I'm getting out while I still have my sanity and can still put a smile on my face. I'm leaving an oncology practice as a pharmacy technician to go and sell make-up at a Macy's counter for more money and better hours. My advice is...if you're fed-up and unhappy...make that change.

Dream Job
Occupational Nurse - (City withheld for privacy), Kentucky, United States
My advise is to BLOW YOUR OWN HORN...no one else will. I have 14 years of experience in different areas of nursing. I also have a AAS in Nursing, a B.S. in Office Administration Management, and I have decided to go for a RN to Bridge MSN online degree program to enhance my options and improve the options available to me to go forward professionally. I now know that companies and hospitals are expecting nurses to be well educated and able to move forward into management...they are now only looking at BSN prepared nurses (at least that is what I have been told) I also know that networking is as powerful or more so than educational status too.

Dreamer Guide
Electronics Technician - (City withheld for privacy), Indiana, United States
It is a good thing to know ones strengths, likes, skills and such. We have all always wanted to do a special function in life. Perhaps we went as far as aligning these dreams and channeled them into skills related to your dream job. You will be outstanding if this describes you. Some people, discover their skill later in life. It can be very difficult to realize you want something and not have the tools to get there.

At this point, one must become focused! You have to spell out exactly what you are, what you want, and how you are going to get there. This is difficult sometimes. Remember, when we do what we hav always done, we will get what we have always received. If we change what we do, we will receive something new, or different.

Good Luck

Getting Started
Personal Caregiver - Illinois, United States
Advertise your abilities and experience if any and meet face to face to see if it is a good match. Be firm on pay, hours available and interest in providing care. Also, many older people need some lively conversation. Never ask how they are because they will talk about every single problem at great length. Be interested in them and stay away from giving too much advise if any.
