Respondents who have been working for five to nine years make $10.75 per hour on average. When we consider tenure, a substantial portion of employees (68 percent) have been working for one to four years and make $9.32 per hour on average.
By state, the highest pay levels are found in California, where the average Office Max, Inc. employee makes approximately $16.50 per hour.
Retail Store Assistant Managers rake in the most money, with average earnings of around $17.25 per hour; Customer Service Managers come in second with average earnings amounting to about $13.50, while Sales Consultants and Cashiers rank near the top as well ($9.00 and about $8.50, respectively). With salaries averaging $8.17, Sales Associates are among the lowest paid at Office Max, Inc.
The highest-paying skill to have may be Operations Management; employees who claim proficiency also report a higher average salary of around $17.50 per hour. Customer Service also popped up often in the survey as an important skill; half of employees surveyed report using it at work. Retail, Cash Handling, and Sales are also desirable skills.

A majority of survey participants participate in a 401(k) program. Nearly one-third of workers can count on health insurance, and approximately one in three workers have dental coverage as a benefit.
