Business Development Directors rake in the most money, with average earnings of about $168K per year; Business Development Managers come in second with average earnings amounting to $135K, while Firmware Engineers and Marketing Managers rank near the top as well ($98K and approximately $95K, respectively). Financial compensation for Market Managers is rather low — on average only around $55K — relative to the rest of the company.

Years of Experience

For those who claim five to nine years of work experience, pay on average amounts to $99K annually. The largest slice of the Samsung workforce (33 percent) has been working for one to four years and earns, on average, approximately $75K per year.


When it comes to location, the highest average paycheck (around $130K annually) can be spotted in Mountain View, Calif.; Menlo Park, Calif. ($120K), San Jose, Calif. ($98K), and Dallas, Texas (about $96K) are the next top-paying cities. Austin, Texas is near the bottom for pay at $76K. By state, the highest pay levels are found in California, where the average Samsung employee makes $120K per year.

Certifications and Degrees

Project Management Professionals receive bigger paychecks ($148K annually) than those without credentials. Samsung provides the highest financial reward to those with a Doctorate (PhD) — these employees rake in $148K per year.


The best-paying skill to have in this role appears to be Business Development; employees who claim this ability report median compensation of approximately $150K annually. Project Management also popped up often in the survey as an important skill; close to an eighth of employees surveyed report using it at work. Other top skills include Strategic Planning, Market Research, and Microsoft Excel.

Benefits and Perks

Only 42 percent at Samsung enjoy paid vacation time, and just one in four respondents can take sick leave. A large number of workers participate in a 401(k) program. At Samsung, a strong majority of employees have health insurance, and a strong majority of survey participants have dental coverage. The company also dishes out perks such as a company cell phone, life insurance, gym membership, and relocation expenses.
