Respondents who have been working for five to nine years make approximately $50K annually on average. Between the one and five year mark, median pay is $52K per year. When we consider tenure, a substantial portion of employees (38 percent) have been working for 10-19 years and make about $60K annually on average.
The highest average salaries go to Information Assurance Officers, who bring in close to $95K per year, though Elementary School Teachers are not far behind at around $58K along with High School Teachers earning $44K.
Certifications and Degrees
Being a Certified Information Systems Security Professional certainly has its perks — salaries approach around $95K annually and far exceed the paychecks of those without certification. Elementary Teacher Certifications also rank high on the pay scale, with expected average earnings of approximately $51K per year. Those with a Master of Science (MS), Management Information Systems (MIS) at Shelby County School District come out on top, and their salaries approach $95K annually.
The highest-paying skill to have may be Security Policies and Procedures; employees who claim proficiency also report a higher average salary of $95K per year. Childhood Education also popped up often in the survey as an important skill; roughly one in four of employees surveyed report using it at work.
