The future outlook for Engineers around Hampton Roads, VA
Manufacturing Engineer - (City withheld for privacy), Virginia, United States
There's stable amount of engineering work around Hampton Roads due to the presence of the Navy base, the shipyards, Siemmens VDO, NASA, STIHL, and various government contractor temp agencies. All the above companies are still hiring during the recession.

No such thing as job security
United States Postal Worker (Carrier) - (City withheld for privacy), Tennessee, United States
Our salaries depend on the volume of mail delivered by the postal service. Every year mail count determines what we will be paid, one does not know from year to year what their salary will be.(Rural carrier, city carriers are paid an hourly rate) Rural is paid route evaluation. We either ride the financial roller coaster or find another job. There is no good advice for this job.

DON'T COUNT ON IT!
Systems Engineer (Computer Networking / IT) - (City withheld for privacy), Virginia, United States
In today's IT industry, there is NO job security.

I have been in the IT industry for over 21 years and at present I can truly say that I am ready to get off of this merry-go-round.

Recuriters, Head Hunters AND Employers all practice the same ethethics......

They mainly try to get more VALUE for less.....money!!!!!!!!

There is also little value in what you know vs what you are willing to do to keep the job you may or may not get. What you know may land you the job but once you get the job it's what you are willing to do beyond what you know that opts many executive decisions to being allotted to stay employed vs being opped to be let go.

What you look like, age,how do you ALL ARE PREJUDGED AT THE TIME YOU STEP INTO THE INTERVIEW. PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS ARE HARD TO FACTOR IN WHEN YOU ARE DOING YOUR BEST TO BELIEVE YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO GET THE JOB. AND JOB REQUIREMENTS......mmmmmmmmmmmmmm WE'LL NOT GET INTO THAT SORTED DIRTY LAUNDRY THAT THESE MANUFACTURED REQUIREMENTS MAKE UP.

In knowing what it means to be a "team player" FOR REAL vs saying 'I am a team player' and BY SAYING, think you know what you think that means hold totally differnt values in the REAL WORK PLACE vs what you are tought to believe before you are let go to venture into the BIG PLAYGROUND OF EMPLOYMENT POSSIBILITIES!!!!!

AT ALL COSTS.....IF YOU BELIEVE IN GOD, BELIEVE THAT HE IS THE PROMOTER OF ALL GOOD AND GREAT THINGS FOR YOU....

NEVER SELL OUT.....BY BEING CHEAPLY COMPROMISED......YOU'LL FALL AMONG THE BILLIONS OF CHEESE CHASERS!! WHO ARE BEING SO JERKED AROUND THAT THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT THEY ARE -----JUST CHASING THE CHEESE!!
