Fair Pay
Too much responsibility for amount of pay and hindered
When I started this job I was very excited because it gave me an opportunity to work in a rewarding environment. I did not realize they had reduced the previous job title from Chief Operating Officer to Director of Operations kept the same amount of responsibilities but lowered the level of authority. I do almost everything but I am restricted from calling all of the shots that affect final outcomes. At this level the position should pay a min of six figures and have the authority to execute.
It's Not What You Know but Who You Know
I don't believe I am being paid fairly, when a younger lady of a different nationality is assigned a position above my current position and she only has a high school diploma; much less knowledge of what's required to perform the job, fewer years of experience, inability to organize, plan and successfully implement plans that will develop clients. Ther are other duties I perform that I'm not paid for. There is much more than bias in the workplace and I should be paid a minimum of $42,000 a year.
What's gotta change?
I have a Master's Degree and am a counselor/case manager out of school. Currently I'm trying to get a new job more counseling specific but the current way that this field is going makes it difficult to make a living if you are any way involved in Community Mental Health. I feel like someone needs to take a stand. I contacted a union rep about where I work and am awaiting their input on what to do next. One of my co-workers said it best when she said that it is our job to help empower people yet the system dis-empowers us all the time. How's that for morale?
What is fair?
I currently work for a non profit Outpatient Treatment program in NYC. My base salary barely covers my monthly expenses. My employer was rewarded with a contract (largely due to the caliber of work consistently produced by the staff) that allows the company to increase the number of consumers we serve, and the amount of money that is recieved to perform the task. The organization has increased the operating budget by over fifty percent; First, there is not enough physical space to service the consumers. All of my co workers and I are required to do more, and the quality of the work has not diminished in light of the influx of consumers. Given all of this,the organization I work for is reluctant to increase the salaries of the employees, whom make their operating budget more than profitable, ( IE: last year there was a surplus in the budget of over sixty thousand; which was not given as bonuses or incentives for the employees). Considering that most of the employees reside in NYC, where the rents have/do increase by six to eight per cent yearly, not to mention the price of living. What is fair?
Don't Work For Cheap Paying Company
If you have more then 15+ years experience in your job make sure you are getting paid the going rate for that job in that location.
Fair Pay can happen for you.............
I have been in the administrative field for 15 + years and in 1992 I started out making $7.00 an hour, which for me was a large salary from being on welfare with two small children. I graduated from Minnesota School of Business with a certificate in Office Technology in 1991 and was worried about getting a job and fair pay. I continually climed the salary ladder, although remaining in the same line of work and three jobs, the first for almost 8 years, leaving with double the salary I started with, the second job for 6 months, same salary as I left the first job and no benefits included. The third job, I have been with for almost 7 1/2 years and now make almost double the salary of the second job with excellent benefits at a nonprofit organization. I consider it a blessing, but also realize I had and have talents I didn't know I possessed, along with taking risks to move on. I'm happy with my organization and my co-workers, and now four sons later, I can provide for my family more than I ever imagined. It's about perserverance, not sweating the small stuff and showing them what you are made of. Although I have always been with nonprofit organizations, my job skills have paid off and I continue to climb the salary ladder even though I remain in the same line of work. It is truly satisfying knowing that I'm appreciated and it shows through what my organization feels I'm worth. Never give up, never give in. It can happen for us all and there will always be a need for assistance in our line of work.
Big Bucks
I have been at my company for 9 years in many capacities and job titles. I have to say that I am impressed with myself for such accomplishments. I have been promoted almost every year that I have been here. I started as a PT Research clerk , and I am currently a Program Coordinator for an outpatient Program. I love that I have flexibility, but would still like to pursue my BA when time permits. I think what I like most about this compan is the opportunity to grow. I am well liked and known in the agency as well as very depended on. It's always call Rama she can help you. I like that feeling, it is a source of high confidence in me.
Unfair Pay
I came in the door with this company with an Associates Degree and I have advanced with the company to a case manager and I am still not making the money I deserve which I believe it should at least be $32,000-35,000 to live comfortable. I have way too much experience to continue working for less with a high stress job. I am looking for work but not getting any offers. I am just ready to move to another state. In the same since there are new hires coming in the door making $28,000-29,000, does this sound fair??
