If you don't get the salary you think you deserve ask your boss, "What do I need to do to make X number of dollars." Also do research to document what others with similar background and experience are getting.

When I am fairly compensated in salary I go over and beyond the call of duty for my company. This determines that I am appreciated. I have encounterd an experience that I was not treated fairly with pay no matter how hard I worked to do a good-faithful job for the company. The work was excessive, difficult and a struggle to keep up. This is not a good feeling. It's really difficult to handle a situation like that. A company will always grow when their employee is compensated fairly.
