Adult daycare directors are responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a non-residential facility for the care of senior citizens or adults that have developmental delays or other physical or neurological disorders. Care is generally administered at the group level to several adults at a time, though clients may live independently or with family members for a portion of the day, and these directors may oversee the work of a variety of staff members, including nurses, activity providers, and other care workers.Read More...
Leadership skills are important in this position to hire, train, and schedule staff, and they must ensure that all activities of the daycare adhere to safety procedures and applicable laws and regulations. These may include activities to help clients improve physical, emotional, and social skills, such as exercise classes, counseling, art classes, field trips, beauty services, and physical therapy.
The daycare center may also offer practical counseling and rehabilitation services to facilitate the development of independence. The level of medical care provided can vary depending on the facility, and they must always maintain a strong network of community contacts at all times for the benefit of clients and their families. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field may be required for this position, and first-aid and CPR certification are highly beneficial and may also be required.
