Job Description for Air Force 2nd Lieutenant, Air

Air Force 2nd Lieutenants are the lowest commissioned officers in the United States Air Force. Their duties can vary greatly, from administrative tasks to supervising flights as flight leaders. Many of these lieutenants are also students training to become combat systems officers, air battle managers, or pilots. Since the position is so varied, Air Force 2nd Lieutenants can pursue almost any military career that interests them, including engineering, nursing, intelligence, law, or psychology.

As an officer in the United States Air Force, Air Force 2nd Lieutenants must have excellent communication and leadership ability. They must have demonstrated proficiency in leading their fellow soldiers. These commissioned officers must be in excellent physical and mental shape.

In addition to completing Air Force Academy training, Air Force 2nd Lieutenants also complete officer training, which includes courses on grooming requirements, military law, dress code, and management strategies. Education requirements also vary greatly, depending on the Air Force 2nd Lieutenant's specialty. For example, attorneys require law school, and doctors require medical school. The working environment for an Air Force 2nd Lieutenant varies greatly depending on the officer's location of deployment and specific assignment. Their specialty also greatly affects where they are stationed. They may work in an office environment or military hospital, or they may be actively deployed into combat. Since they are officers in the United States military, they live in officer's quarters. Air Force 2nd Lieutenant interact directly with their subordinates, as well as their direct superiors, who are first lieutenants and captains.
