An aircraft dispatcher typically works in commercial aviation, normally as part of a company that provides airplanes for passenger travel or freight delivery. The dispatcher is the person who works out the schedules and timetables for his or her company's aircraft at a particular airport or aviation company. The dispatcher typically is the person who files all flight plan information with ground authorities prior to takeoffs. Finally, he or she interacts with pilots and air traffic personnel to help make decisions on when to list flights as delayed or cancelled due to weather, mechanical problems, or general traffic concerns.
