An aquatic biologist primarily studies the ecology and behaviors of living organisms, such as plants, animals, and microbes. The organisms are usually found in freshwater sources, including lakes, rivers, marshes, and wetlands. Aquatic biologists also study the composition of the water itself, as well as the effects of various conditions on aquatic life.
