Job Description for Architectural Designer

Architectural designers design such projects as buildings, urban landscapes, and parks. In some cases, designers will work as a part of a company or studio, although they can also work independently. They meet with the client to discuss the client's budget and preferences. They then consult with the landscape consultant to understand the construction site and create different concepts for the project for presentation to the client. After incorporating in client comments on concepts, architectural designers work with engineers to create a design that works within the client's budget. During construction, they provide drawings to the construction team and monitor progress to make sure it is faithful to the design. Once the project is finished, the designer must inspect the building to make sure it meets the clients' standards.

"Site visits & office work, varying stress, creative."
Pros: I get to use my creativity. I like the people I work with. There are many projects going on at once and never a dull in work load. I get to work with many different clients. I believe in what our company is offering.
Cons: Long hours. Can be stressful at times. Sometimes there are difficult clients and I think I should be paid more.

"Mixed thoughts."
Pros: The studio environment is great for a collaborative working place, the projects the firm gets to work on are often really good, and the team of employees work well together.
Cons: Of the two partners, one micromanages way too much to the point where it almost becomes an issue, the office chairs are over 30 years old and highly uncomfortable and they won't replace them. There is no set guidelines to office hierarchy of positions within the office as a way of promoting individuals.
