Job Description for Assistant Department Manager

Assistant department managers are responsible for managing the daily activities of a particular department within their organization. This position is supervisory in nature, and some organizations may occasionally require these managers to work extended or overtime hours. While some employers prefer applicants with a college degree in sales, hospitality, or business administration, many organizations value experience overall and prefer those with at least five years of experience in the field. The majority of their work is done within an office or store, and some light travel may be required to visit other areas within the company.
