Assistant production managers are often responsible for monitoring supplies, creating purchase orders, monitoring and supervising daily production, updating production methods, and making sure the work areas are clean and free of debris. They generally work under a production manager and are expected to help ensure compliance with workplace and government-mandated safety standards. Some assistant production managers have authority over supervisors and are in charge of evaluating, supervising, and training them. In addition, the assistant production manager coordinates operations with store managers and transportation directors in other departments. Working with vendors or other companies to manage product distribution is also required.
