An associate marketing manager develops marketing initiatives and works on existing proposals generated by a company’s marketing department. These professionals compile ideas generated by the marketing department, determining which are feasible and how they could be executed. This includes forecasting costs, developing the steps needed to execute campaigns, and implementing changes approved by their supervisors. The associate marketing manager must work within their department's budget for all activities.
The associate manager also helps to assess the effectiveness of existing marketing campaigns, and they determine ways to increase their efficacy. The manager may be required to suggest the termination of existing campaigns. While not specifically a marketing analyst, the associate manager may work with a market research department data to help determine the future of existing projects. In all of their work, the associate marketing manager generates reports and status updates for marketing department supervisors and management. The associate marketing manager may also perform supervisory duties, especially when the marketing manager is out of the office or unavailable.
A bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related discipline is typically required for this position, as is experience in lower-level marketing positions. The associate marketing manager typically works in an office environment during regular business hours and is supervised by a marketing department head or manager.
